London Marathon 2012

Posted on by kcadmin

London Marathon 2012

My first ever experience of running the London Marathon was everything I expected it to be, and a whole lot more.

For me personally the build up to race day was very exciting, and collecting my race number at the London Expo with my family was a special moment.

My training was complete, the miles were in the bank, and I felt ready to take on the challenge of running the 26.2 mile course.

On race day, the atmosphere down to Greenwich from the tube station was quiet but had a sense of anticipation and excitement.

In less than ten mintues after the elite runners began the start line was in sight, and I was off and running……

Arriving at Cutty Sark was impressive, the crowds were unbelieveable……… At 1 hr 45 mins I was crossing Tower Bridge, and on schedule for possibly breaking 3 hrs 30 mins? Unfortunately I found it tough going between 18 & 22 miles, and eventually crossed the finish line in 3 hrs 45 mins!

One of many highlights was seeing my wife and son along the embankment just a mile or so from home.

Having crossed the finish line I felt very proud of my achievements.  Meeting up with the Breakthrough Breast Cancer team afterwards with a welcome massage, shower and buffet was a great idea, and a lovely touch by the Breakthrough team. It allowed us all to chat amongst each other and experience the ups and downs that we all went through on our journey to the end.

At the time I thought never again, and now having time to reflect on what a great experience, and occassion the London Marathon is I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a place in the ballot come 2013.

Bahrain Invitational

Posted on by kcadmin

The KC Golf Show teamed up with good friend Geoff Swain’s Golf Unplugged for the Bahrain Invitational at The Royal Golf Club.

Nicknamed the ‘Trick Shot Boys’ Kevin & Geoff put on three highly entertaining shows which grabbed the attention of Colin Montgomerie, Paul Casey and Thomas Bjorn. So much so the European Stars were egged on by the audience to take part, and have a go at the tall tee shots.

However the trick shot that everyone was talking about involved Kevin sitting on Geoff’s shoulders and striking a moving ball which was lobbed to him from Geoff’s sand iron.

By day three the double act was gathering momentum, and some encouraging words from both Monty and Casey has led to Kevin & Geoff setting up a website golftrickshotboys.com (due to go live very soon!)

The first of its kind, a double act with

#Twice the tricks…… #Twice the banter….. #Twice the entertainment……

For more info the Golf Trick Shot Boys can be contacted at info@golftrickshotboys.com

To top off a fantastic weekend IMG invited the double act to Bahrain’s F1 Circuit to experience the thrills and spills of Go Karting. A star studied line up included Tim Henman, Ruud Gillet, Suzzane Petterson, Monty, Thomas Bjorn, Andrew Cotter and Paul Casey.

After 11 qualify laps the KC Golf Show finished 5th fastest with Geoff sitting a couple places behind. A brilliant start by Kevin saw him sneak up into 2nd place… KC then battled it out with Paul Casey for several laps before finally going wide and allowing BBC’s Andrew Cotter to pass and nick 2nd place.

Ipswich Town Golf Day

Posted on by kcadmin

Manager Paul Jewell, and his back room staff led the way during the Ipswich Town Golf Day at Hintlesham last month.

Ipswich Town Football ClubOn a cold and grey afternoon Kevin kepted the audience entertained with a talented display of freestyle golf, coupled with both off the cuff humour and banter worthy of the London’s Apollo.

New to his routine Kevin included his ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ audition which saw him successfully reach the last 500 from the 75,00 who auditioned, and the chance to perform infront of Judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams.

Amongst the spectators were Ipswich legends John Wark, Mick Mills, George Burley, and Matt Holland to name a few. All of whom were in good spirits joining in the fun, and heckling with the KC Golf Show.

Marathon Latest

Posted on by kcadmin

Kevin’s recent trip to India where he performed at the European Challenge Tour Event in Ahmedabad, meant his training for this year’s London Marathon was put on hold for a few days.

On his return the snow soon arrived, yet despite the inclement weather conditions Kevin has spent the past couple weeks making the most at his home club Hintlesham with regular training sessions around the snow bound 6580 yards par 72 course.

Kevin is hoping to raise a minimum of £2,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and to date has almost reached the halfway stage. The support from club members, friends and family has been terrific, and I thank everyone who has kindly donated to the charity so close to our family’s hearts.

With less than 70 days to go Kevin’s training programme is now quite demanding, as he feels the strain in an attempt to run the 26 miles & 385 yard course in less than 4 hours.

To help Kevin over the finishing line please visit his fundraising page.

Thank you

KC Misses Out On Live Show

Posted on by kcadmin

Unfortunately my Britain’s Got Talent journey has finally come to an end having missed out on appearing in the live shows at the final hurdle.

Although I came away from Cardiff’s Millenium Centre disappointed I am also very proud of my achievements as I made it to the last 500 from the 75,000 who auditioned.

The day begun with several interviews including presenters Ant & Dec, and ITV 2 Stephen Mulhern, both of which were very complimentary towards my golfing skills.

Performing infront of a full house including judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams was a great experience and one to certainly look back on with fond memories.

The response from followers on Facebook and Twitter has been overwhelming, and I would just like to thank everyone for there kind messages of support.

If this is a sign of things to come, then The KC Golf Show can look forward to an exciting 2012 trick shot season.

Here’s my view back stage before I met the three judges and the Cardiff Audience!

Britain’s Got Talent Latest

Posted on by kcadmin

The audition for Britain’s Got Talent was a great experience, and considering the nerves I held myself together to put on a decent performance that might just persuade the producers to give the KC Golf Show a look in the live shows.

The audition’s are very well organised from start to finish - I arrived at London’s ExCel approx 8.30am and joined the que for registration. In just 30 minutes I signed in and was directed to a member of staff who would then give me my Britain’s Got Talent audition No. 70820 ( Which I proudly stuck on my Vibrant Green Galvin Green sweater!)

I then moved in to a much larger room with the other contestants. The room was split in half (one side solo acts, the other variety acts).  You guessed it,  I  joined the side of the room performing variety acts! I can safely say there were no other golfers doing keep me uppies on a unicycle!

The room filled up in no time, and then came the famous Britain’s Got Talent music that plays at the start of evey show. The reality, nerves, excitement soon hit home as I knew it would’nt be long before the KC Golf Show would have his momenet to impress!

Small groups were then taken through to the auditioning rooms ( I counted six in total) There was probably four or five acts waiting at each auditioning room.  Within ten minutes I was in performing my tricks to a Paolo Nutini track (pencil full of lead).

Apart from a slight wobble on the unicycle  I was pleased with how my audition went. I now have to wait until the New Year to find out if I’ve made it through to the live shows.

I would like to thank everybody for there support, and as soon as I here any news you will be the first to know.

Fingers crossed The KC Golf Show brings you the good news!!!

Britain’s Got Talent Audition

Posted on by kcadmin

I am delighted to announce the KC Golf Show has been offered an audition on Britain’s Got Talent.

Kevin will be heading to London’s ExCel on Thursday 8th December to hopefully make an impact with the judges in the short time provided for his audition.

With just minutes to impress, Kevin’s unicycle and ball juggling looks set to be very much a key factor in his big enterance to the stage.

The KC Golf Show also has a couple new tricks up his sleeve which he hopes will persuade the judges to put him through to the televised live shows.

We eagerly anticipate the news in the following blog that Kevin’s audition is successful, and we look forward watching his trick shot show on the television.
