Lewis Kerr Charity Golf Day – January 2016

In the summer of 2015 riding for Newcastle Diamonds Lewi Kerr was involved in a collision with another speedway rider which sent him flying into the fence during the Premier League Fours meeting at Peterborough. Lewis ended up in a coma as a result of the high speed smash leaving the sport and the speedway community in a very dark place with recent sad news to a number of riders, none more so than the talented Darcy Ward who has been left paralysed following a speedway incident.. However on this occasion we have some fantastic news, as Lewi has made a remarkable recovery and is back fighting fit and ready to ride once again with his new club and my local team The Ipswich Witches.. With the Witches stars Danny King (Left) Lewi Kerr (Middle) and manager Ritchie Hawkins (Right)
Lewi and his Dad wanted to put on The Golf Day to help raise money and thank Magpas for saving Lewis. Magpas (The Mid Anglia General Practitioner Accident Service) supports the Ambulance team by providing Air Ambulance and a Magpas specialist team, despatched to cases of life-threatening illness or major trauma within the East of England. For me personally, and as a speedway fan I was delighted to be a part of the day and glad I could help bring some added value and entertainment to the event..

The Golf Day was a huge success and very well supported so soon after Christmas… Also a lovely touch from Bespoke Norfolk for kindly sposoring the day. Hopefully this is the start of many Golf Days for Lewi and Magpas.
