Ian Poulter Junior Invitational 2013
After a tremendous final round of 67 and tied 3rd at the Open Championship, it was great to see Poults back at his home club Woburn, for the 8th annual IJP Junior Invitational.
Still very much on a high from a fine performance at Muirfield, Ian was in top form and as always up for the challenge and keen to take part in the KC Golf Show.
Having arrived at the Club bright and early Ian’s itenarary was a busy one starting with the welcome of 80 or so juniors along with very proud Mums and Dads. On arrival each junior was treated to a photograph with Poults which were all indiviadually signed and ready on completion of there round.
After the introduction the kids took to the magnificent Marques course whilst Ian stayed behind to answer questions from Sky Sports News. Once the interviews were over, it was time to head to the course and check out the young prodeges. Considering the sweltering heat, there were some fantastic scores on a course that is more than ready to stage a world class tour event.
My time had come and just like last year a large crowd had surrounded the KC Golf Show Arena. The opportunity of sharing a few jokes and performing a Trick Shot Show with Ian Poulter does’nt come round too often, making this event the highlight of a busy season for me and the KC Golf Show.
We had a lot of fun with the show and Poults went out on a high by nailing the moving ball after chasing it down the pipe.
I could then sit down and relax, however for Ian, he went straight into a clinic demonstrating a few shots giving us all an insight in to his practice preperations and life on Tour, both in Europe and the USA.
Unbelievable prizes were then awarded to the lucky winners before we all sat down and enjoyed a fantastic Bar-b-que courtesy of Woburn Golf Club.
This was my 2nd IJP Junior Invitational and on both occassions I have been blown away by Ian’s involvemnet and commitment in making the event a special day for all the juniors taking part.
