KC Wins Toby Sunderland Award – 2014
I was delighted to win the Prestigious Toby Sunderland Award for my efforts to raise funds for charity. I was presented with the award at The PGA’s annual reception on the eve of The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.
Six other Pro’s were nominated regionally and each received £250 to give to a charity of their choice. To win it outright against the competition was a real surprise. Im honoured to win The Toby Sunderland Award, I was so glad my wife Charlotte could be with me and attend such a lovely evening.
Along with donating my show to numerous Charity Golf Days, I think running the London Marathon with bright Pink Hair is what swayed it in my favour this time!!! I do the charity work because I love doing it, I’m not seeking any recognition. The London Marathon is something I’ve always wanted to do and with Mum passing away it was a no brainer to take part and give something back to the people that had helped her.
Along with my cheque of £1,200 for winning The Award, I raised just under £5000 for my chosen charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer, in memory of my Mum who passed away from the illness five years ago. This entry was posted in The Show. Bookmark the permalink.
